I typically focus primarily on technical analysis at this blog but I do still keep up with companies financials as part of the work I do. Recently I was quoted in an article about the recent write-off Microsoft took due to their bad purchase of aQuantive.
Despite recent moves that have generated a rosy glow around Redmond, Microsoft still has its pain points. Its pricey acquisition of online ad firm aQuantive, for one, has resulted in a $6.2B charge. “I don’t think Microsoft really knew what they were buying back in 2007,” said investment analyst Andrew Thrasher. “They saw Google and Yahoo making major acquisitions and didn’t want to be left behind.”
